Adnohia is a Japanese jewelry designer based in Pasadena, California.
She holds a Master of Architecture degree from SCI-Arc and a Bachelors of Science in Architecture from the University of Texas at Arlington, which gives her work unique form and structure that combines traditional silversmithing with digital design techniques.
She also happens to be Matt's wife. In a very rare recorded interview, she opens up about making a divergent career choice, depression as both struggle and motivation, and balancing the expectations of an expensive education against following one's bliss.
Sometimes art is a hobby, and sometimes art is a way of life, but in this candid interview of husband and wife, art is a key to self-exploration, self-forgiveness and self-acceptance. Dan Madigan was a lifelong fan of professional wrestling when a script he wrote got him a meeting with WWE CEO, Vince McMahon. Shortly thereafter he went from staff writer to segment director to helping launch WWE Films. Matt and Dan discuss the myths and realities of professional wrestling, from its rural roots to a multi-billion dollar empire that stages 300 events per year for more than 36 million viewers worldwide. Wrestling is too often maligned as a Soap Opera for Morons, but few understand how much work goes into this billion dollar industry, and it's great to get the inside scoop from someone who knows the business from the inside. And sometimes it's just fun to listen to a couple of Massholes wax poetic about the glory days of the Boston Garden.

The casting of Scarlett Johansson in the new Paramount Pictures live-action remake of Ghost in the Shell has elicited accusations of #whitewashing amid other criticisms, so I reached out to the first woman to portray a live-action Kusanagi, Christine Adams, to get an Asian-American point of view. Christine is a full time model and gamer, cast in the privately funded GITS PROJECT 2501 from director Ash Thorpe, which sought to recreate the opening title sequence from Mamoru Oshii's animated adaptation of Masamune Shirow's manga. Matt and Christine talk about how a modeling career can launch from playing Dungeons & Dragons and the challenges for people of color in the white dominated world of American movies. Since the 1950s, the chasm between art world academics and the general public has been an ever-expanding bridge too far. With contemporary art works fetching hundreds of millions of dollars at auction, and with celebrity art collectors like Eli and Edyth Broad building private museums exclusively showcasing post-war and contemporary art, public acceptance faces off in a coin toss with complete and utter public outrage. What does the future hold for the contemporary art market? Are we on the cusp of another art bubble burst? Is the world art market a high-stakes grift? Matt and special guest Shaun Berke answer these questions and more on this special Art Business Report. And what they have to say is sure to ruffle a few feathers! A month and a half ago, Kevin Smith brought me in to appear on his Fatman on Batman podcast to talk about the Jerry Robinson original art pages I acquired that may be evidence–once and for all–that Jerry co-created the Joker in the same time frame that he co-created Robin. It was an epic two-and-a-half hour podcast that covered my personal history in pop culture in addition to this amazing, chance discovery.
Immediately after taping, Kevin asked if I wouldn't mind coming back for the video version of the podcast, which I did, and which I've linked here. On that same day, quite by chance, my friends Jon Schnepp and Holly Payne were recording a segment about the video release of their incredible documentary, The Death of Superman Lives. I got to sit in studio while they taped their episode and afterwards we recorded our episode. It was another great experience for which I am eternally grateful.
Kevin Smith has been an amazing supporter, and I can personally attest that he is even more awesome in person than he is in film, video, and other media. He is just that cool. More than that, he is the real deal. I hope I'll be able to announce here soon that his pilot for Hollyweed (shot at La Luz de Jesus Gallery) has been picked up for series.
This is the first half of a two-part video cast, so when the second part drops, I'll be sure to post it here as well. Be sure to subscribe to Kevin Smith's YouTube channel (here) if you haven't already, and be sure to subscribe to Pod Sequentialism with Matt Kennedy via iTunes here.

Ann Shen on the latest Pod Sequentialism with Matt Kennedy
Ann Shen is a recent art school graduate working on her first book, Bad Girls Throughout History, to be published by Chronicle Books in Fall 2016.
Matt asks Ann how she landed that book deal, and how life plans can change and change back on the way to realizing your dreams. If you’ve ever wondered what it takes to find a publisher, this is the podcast for you!
Ann holds two bachelor degrees, so when she gives the lowdown on art school pros and cons, you should listen.
I can't tell you how many times I've been in a comic book or collectibles shop and overheard a conversation about how badly a studio handled a project beloved from another medium, or how another project would have been a better idea.
Fans have definite opinions about these things but they are infrequently consulted because they rarely back-up those opinions with trackable purchase power.
In researching the 14th episode of the Pod Sequentialismpodcast, I crunched numbers from a bunch of different sources (including a great article by the Hollywood Reporter's Pamela McClintock) and came across a pattern that can't possibly be lost on the studios.
In fact, it's an actual formula for box office success that has thus far only experienced a 5% margin of error. I feel like Christian Bale in The Big Short; like I've combined enough data to reach a conclusion that has to be worth a fortune to the right people. But, instead of knocking on studio doors, or writing my own article for The Hollywood Reporter or Variety, I'm imparting this knowledge to you, my listenership.
Frank Forte is the publisher at Asylum Press,
and as such has released over 25 titles, some of which he has written and drawn himself or in collaboration. He's a frequent guest editor of Heavy Metal Magazine, which is a dream job for any comics geek who came of age in the 80s.
He has also worked in animation for the Emmy Award winning Bob's Burgers, the Oscar Nominated Despicable Me 2, a host of Lego films, including Lego Star Wars, as well as the comic and pop culture projects Marvel
Heroes 4D, and Hi Hi Puffy Ami
Yumi. He co-created The Cletus and Floyd Show with Gene McGuckin, and Sickcom with Robert S. Rhine, which
found infamy at Spike and Mike's Sick and Twisted Festival Of Animation. He's also a gallery exhibiting artist, and voracious blogger.
In other words, Frank Forte is one of the good guys.
Matt Kennedy and his guest Frank Fortereveal how to launch your own company, and talk self-publishing, changing careers, and how to pay the bills while doing something you love on Episode 9 of Pod Sequentialism. It's not all about the benjamins, but it's good to know what to expect in the competitive comic book market. Tune in and find out!
My guest this week on Pod Sequentialism is Satine Phoenix, a comic book illustrating gamer-girl who was dubbed the "Queen of D&D" by Time Magazine. She initially found fame in the adult film industry but soon after went mainstream via her web series I Hit It With My Axe and her weekly gaming series DnDMelt.
I've known Satine for quite a few years and seeing her transition from a fan of comics into a published professional has been very personally gratifying, but it's also a great template for other young people to follow in the quest for identity and professional success.
This is one of my favorite episodes so far because there is a wonderful uplifting message about the comics and gaming community as it currently exists. The real mindblower here was in hearing from a woman's point of view that girls have always been interested in gaming, but the boys in their lives weren't very welcoming to the idea.
This episode is broadcast without commercial interruption and it's one I think a lot of people can learn from.
